William and Mary were stood on the pier A King and his Queen for over a year. The rest of their life was easy to find For all of their kingdom stood there behind. And William, said it was beautiful To know all at once where he wanted to be And Mary’s sigh was softly in time, with the sea. Over and over the summers came round The rides on the pier filled with childish sounds. At home there were castles and cycles and swings As time passed by it would take all these things. And William said, that he loved her still. And Mary replied she was happy to be The one whose life moved on like the waves, on the sea. A story of love without tears and pain And no one is left standing out in the rain. Do you want to hear about those broken hearts again? William and Mary were still holding hands When their children were searching in far away lands. They walked for a while through their somnolent town And all of their life was gathered around. And William said, it was wonderful To see all at once how it binds you and me And Mary said let’s take one more look, at the sea.

It’s only at nightfall, only at nightfall. At nightfall, nightfall oh oh oh Through the city when the hours are small Under tables, now we learn to crawl. Kicking, screaming, when the lights come on, Laying dying in the morning sun. And we sleep though winter hours, Waking like nocturnal flowers. It’s only at nightfall, only at nightfall. At nightfall, nightfall oh oh oh It’s only at nightfall, we come alive at all. At nightfall, nightfall oh oh oh It’s only at nightfall, only at nightfall. At nightfall, nightfall oh oh oh Rows of girls across the disco floors. Lines of boys stream out of taxi doors. We sleepwalk through the nine to five, Passing midnight, into overdrive. And we’ll watch all the lights go down, Fly away when summers come around. [CHORUS]

Mona Lisa Smile Your Mona Lisa Smile, You make it all worth while With your smile. One hundred times I fell in love, Inside a day in London. But that was just a silly phase, It must have been the sun. Then I saw your… Mona Lisa Smile Your Mona Lisa Smile, You made it all worth while With your smile. Maybe I’m sad and lonely, Thinking there was something special. But for that second when the world fell away, I’d live this month again. You made it all worth while, With your smile. It was just another day You were still in London. Thinking ’bout your… Mona Lisa Smile, Your Mona Lisa Smile, You made it all worth while With your smile. You make it all worth while With your… Mona Lisa Smile.

Summerisle 04:11
I always dreamed – of a cobalt sky Across the years – timeless clouds go by Shadows far below – rolling over… SummerIsle. On Sunday streets – with sunny smiles And seafront towns – that run for miles All the life that’s there – comes around in SummerIsle [CHORUS 1] I’ll live here, I’ll die here, returned to your green fields Your rivers still winding away to the sea. I’ll spend all my days wishing always to be here And every long summer my fair home will be… SummerIsle. I walked your coast – the surrounding sea Whispered of a world – I would long to see But my special land – would remain this… SummerIsle [CHORUS 2] I’ll live here, I’ll die here, and all through this charmed life Your white cliffs are smiling – they welcome me home. And when I’m returned to my corner of heaven Always with me is – a part of my own… SummerIsle. (Your white cliffs are smiling, your rivers still winding)

Retro Girl 04:18
Sunshine, oh oh oh oh Or a t-shirt, on a winter’s day. Brighter, than all The mirror balls, of the world. Retro Girl She’s Emma Peel, she’s Supergirl. She’s 30 love, a birthday kiss, With Natasha, but much more than this; She is all of the above, She is everything I love. She is London, oh oh oh oh She is yellow and blue, what can I do. She is ice cream, strawberry flavoured On the longest day, melting away. Retro Girl Always smiling, never wears a frown. She moves, against the crowd; No fashion ever pinned her down. [CHORUS] And when I see her with a younger guy I guess we’ll never be. But would I love her half as much, If she loved someone like me? I even loved the way she smiled as She brushed me away, And I’d just like to say That once again she made my day. Yeh yeh yeh In California, oh oh oh oh She is Pet Sounds, Wouldn’t It Be Nice. All the film stars, I’ll never meet, A Chinese meal, with your favourite Spice It’s just nice, to be in your world, Oh Retro, Retro Girl. You are all of the above, You are everything I love. [CHORUS] And when I see her with a younger guy I guess we’ll never be. But would I love her half as much, If she loved someone like me? I even loved the way she smiled as She brushed me away, And I’d just like to say That once again she made my day. And I grow older every day, But she’s still a girl to me. And though she’s never far away, I guess we’ll never be.

Bournemouth 03:51
She said “let’s take the long way home.” He said “you read my mind again.” The sea makes such a comforting sound. The chines are melting through the ground. He thinks about the years ahead, Smiling in the warmth of the night. The setting sun lights the trees from behind As they cross the bridge for the 98th time. She said “I love you”, squeezing his hand. He felt a tear as he told her the same. No more perfect time or place or time could they be, As the fireworks bloomed out over the sea. One moment in time. Two alone in a chine. In Bournemouth. And if this is our life’s retreat, He thought, well what a paradise. And as she brushed the hair from her face, The future seemed a welcoming place. She said “let’s take the long way home.” He said “you read my mind again.” In Bournemouth.

Rainfall 03:53
Cheering, laughing, eyes in the high street, Everybody, wants to be near me. Time that seemed to pass in a heartbeat, Now I’m just a second-hand memory. Photos stacked away in a shoe box, Time to sign them, one day you’ll find them. How can all the people who loved me Leave all of their memories behind them? So comes the rainfall. Finds the past hung on my wall. Did it ever rain in the old times? When did all my friends stop from calling? Every day the sun in the sky climbs. Every year the rain keeps on falling. So comes the rainfall... So I choose to live in my own time, If you see me please don’t be sorry. As I watch the shadows of rainfall Animate the past there behind me. Rain, running by in rivers. Rain, burns and disappears. Life, wears away; like the stars, will one day. And rain; runs away in rivers. And fame; burns, then disappears. I, burned so bright; now I’m lost, in the rainfall.

Letna Park 03:26
Spring again, Letna Plain is so quiet But every sound the city makes… Finds its way to the park, down geometric paths Still walking like a guard. No one’s watching me. No one’s watching me. Stalin’s throne, overgrown – in sympathy, With decaying symmetry. [CHORUS] And under the trees, in Letna Park On the warmest day Since I let you go. I could have followed. I should have followed – you. Drinking coffee, drifting concerns turn towards An old man resting nearby. Breathless from the symmetry Of the steps that fall behind. And under the trees, in Letna Park On the warmest day Since I let you go. I could have followed. I should have followed – you. No one’s watching me. No one’s watching me – anymore.

A face to sink a thousand hearts, can sail the world forever, She breezes past as you stand inside the crowd. You’re always so surprised. For something hits you, overwhelms, your heart is lost forever, It drags you down, as darkness fills the skies. Too late to realize – so don’t look in her eyes. [CHORUS] She could never be the one She’s too good for anyone Those who’ve looked straight at the sun Were lost before they had begun. So don’t turn around (She could never be the one) Don’t leave the crowd (She’s too good for anyone) Don’t turn around (She could never be the one) Don’t leave the moving crowd (Don’t leave the moving crowd) On this world you try to find A love to last forever, Distracted by the sunlight in your eyes. The power to hypnotize. Your world stops turning & then you’ll find She’ll stay forever in your mind The vision burns so bright before it dies. Too late to realize – no don’t look in her eyes. [CHORUS]

He’s late again, what a surprise And now she’s caught in the rain. Stood by a door, that’s closed to the night Feels like she’s been here before. She was thinking about a film she had seen, With two people lost in love And the West End lights above, Reflected on the road, that turned into a Stream – just like a dream. Lost in a dream. He’s late again, doesn’t know why But now he’s caught in the rain. If she’s not there, God only knows Could life be that unfair? He was thinking about a place they had been, Where two people lost their love But then the traffic lights above All at once, into the distance, Turned to green. What can it mean? Caught in a dream, What can it mean?

Long Shadows 03:56
Long shadows slide away Before the growing day, And I need someone to show me where to go. Further on, the midday sun Exposes everyone, And I need to hold your hand a while. [CHORUS] Life passing like a single day. Love, the warmth that melts the night away. I wish, I wish as shadows die You and I were side by side. Long shadows falling back The peace of evening comes, And I need, I need someone to hold on to. Every day, time goes by It takes the time to learn, That I need to always start again. [CHORUS] Trees changing colours in the light. Walls reflect a hundred shades of white. I sometimes wish my life had just begun The setting sun, overtaking everyone. Life passing like a single day. Love, the warmth that melts the night away. I wish, I wish as shadows die You and I were side by side.

When the clouds disappear, We’ll find summer is here. Sounds in the air Take your mind away, Content to linger Adrift in the day. And when the days disappear We’ll know that winter is near. Coldness in the air Makes you more aware Of fleeting seasons And going nowhere. And when the years disappear When you still find me here Then you will see When the world falls away, Turning around There’s just you and me. Standing on a hill Hear the city hum, Feel the Atlantic breeze, Eyes closed in the sun. A hundred thoughts Fly around and around, I’m weightless where I stand. And when time disappears, I’ll be lying in the sand.
